I love to see the inimitable Janet Ross getting some airtime. I wrote about Leaves from a Tuscan Kitchen in my master's thesis, but ended up going down a whole rabbit hole and reading Ross's memoir and a couple of biographies about her, because I just found her (and the whole "Italian Colony") so fascinating.

Really enjoyed this. I have always been intrigued by the British community in Florence. And so nice to stumble across Sir Henry Elliot here. I’m just off to spend a couple of days in an Edinburgh library reading up on his great uncle Hugh!
