Gosh! Such a good story, Sarah. Definitely more to the disappearance than meets the eye... very sad for the family, but perhaps he had to break away in order to survive, and live the life he wanted. (I'm going with your 'happy ending' theory, as you might have guessed). Would make such a good film/documentary!

They were even worse than I've summarised here, and treated the family very badly, I think. Of course, they were trying to negotiate something with the Turks at the time. Familiar story...
